Greetings!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, as I believe that a strong foundation is built from the connections we make with those in our daily lives. I was thrilled to start teaching virtually in 2011 because I wanted to find a way to make a difference with families and help as they take their incredible educational journey. I feel honored to be part of an innovative school with such a caring and knowledgeable staff, amazing children, and great families.

I have been teaching since 2001. I have taught kindergarten, first, and third grades in various public schools throughout Oregon. I also spent two inspiring years substitute teaching after the birth of my son, Austin. I feel very fortunate to be a teacher and find it to be the most rewarding profession imaginable.

I feel like the luckiest person in the world! I absolutely love my job, appreciate where I live, and have an incredible family. I have a wonderful 15 year old who keeps me giggling and on my toes! He is also a virtual school student, so I have been learning a lot and experiencing the Learning Coach side of things. We cherish our 5 year-old Border Collie/Australian Kelpie named Ginger. She is a goofball and so much fun!

I have many hobbies including gardening, reading, watching plays, games, traveling, and activities with my family. I am completely addicted to Disneyland and we visit there as often as possible... but sadly, not lately. Reading is a huge focus for me and I love various types of literature. During my spare time I spend a lot of time learning; I believe learning is a lifelong process and I am always looking for new ways to grow.

I am looking forward to a fantastic year. We have a great group of students and learning coaches! I have planned a series of Class Connects which I hope are engaging and informational. We have a lot of exciting things we will be learning about this year. Please call or e-mail if you have any questions, comments, or concerns as I would love to hear from you.

Smiles,

Ms. Colbert
